LATEST CHECKED NBC DISPLAY — NOVEMBER 4, 2026, LATE EVENING PT. The NBC Los Angeles live tally for the Aliso Viejo City Council District 3 short term shows Marie Tsaasan 1,040 votes (50.10%) to Garrett Dwyer 1,036 (49.90%). This is an unofficial four-vote Tsaasan lead. It supersedes the earlier 11-vote Dwyer lead in the prior election-night snapshot retained below. The data are source-specific, changing and not certified. NBC Los Angeles; Orange County Registrar of Voters.
EARLIER NOVEMBER 4 OVERNIGHT SNAPSHOT — ALISO VIEJO, Orange County. The election-night lead changed hands in the city’s short-term District 3 Council contest. Garrett Dwyer now leads Marie Tsaasan by only 11 votes, according to the updated NBC Los Angeles Orange County results tracker. Tsaasan had been ahead in the early ballot release; no winner should be declared from either snapshot.
District 3: an 11-vote gap after a reversal
The later reported total is 1,012 votes for Garrett Dwyer (50.27%) and 1,001 for Marie Tsaasan (49.73%). The earlier release had Tsaasan ahead, 807 to 683. Because the race is for a short-term seat and the current margin is exceptionally small, later valid mail, provisional and other ballots may be decisive.
District 2: Max Duncan maintains a lead
In a separate Council District 2 contest, Max Duncan has 1,580 votes (58.82%), while Steven Porten has 1,106 (41.18%), according to the same tracker. Duncan’s 474-vote margin also remains unofficial.
Next steps in the count
Aliso Viejo voters in different districts are voting for different council seats. These returns should not be confused with a citywide mayoral election, and they are not certified results. The Orange County Registrar of Voters oversees the continuing canvass and any subsequent updates.
Correction and update: An earlier version reported Tsaasan’s lead from the initial results. This article has been rewritten to reflect the subsequent reversal. Snapshot: NBC Los Angeles overnight election tracker, November 4, 2026. Additional votes may change the ranking again.
